Rug Cleaners: What You Should Know Before You Buy
When it comes time to clean the carpets in your home, there are many
types of rug cleaners to consider. You can hire a
professional crew to come in and steam clean your carpets, you can
rent a machine from a grocery store, you can buy a machine of your
own, or you can try one of a multitude of carpet cleaning products
available from local stores. It's a lot to think about, but there
are some considerations to make in order to help make your decision
easier.
There is little doubt that the most effective way to get carpets
clean is by hiring a reputable rug cleaning firm that deep cleans
them and sucks the dirty water back out thoroughly. Naturally, this
is the most expensive method of cleaning carpets, and a lot of
people don't have the budget to hire cleaning done very often. That
is why supermarket rentals continue to be so popular. These are
relatively inexpensive to rent and do an okay job of getting dirt
out of the rugs. The major drawback to rental machines is that you
have to move all of the furniture yourself, so if you aren't going
to be able to get the furniture moved for you, this won't be a
method you'll want to attempt.
A lot of people are opting to buy their own carpet cleaning machines
these days, which makes a lot of sense. Carpet cleaning is not just
a one-time job. It's a task that you'll be repeating over and over
for as long as you live in a home with carpeting which will mean a
lot of rentals. Instead, by purchasing a powerful steam vac for
between $100 and $150, you can clean your carpets as often as you
like. All you need to buy is the cleaning solution to use with it.
Once again, you will have to move your own furniture, but these
machines are excellent for keeping the high traffic areas of your
home clean and fresh. As you probably know, dirt causes carpets to
wear out sooner, and since they are a major expense to replace, you
want to make them last as long as you can.
That leaves a variety of aerosol and spray types of carpet cleaning
chemicals. The easiest ones of these are the kind that you spray on,
let dry, and vacuum off. Of course, the suction power you will be
using will only be as great as your vacuum cleaner which may not
effectively pull dirt from deep down in the pile. While this is the
least expensive method and does help some, it is also probably the
least effective.
